Chapter 7 & 8

Yesterday morning I started the day on the beach looking into the ocean. The ocean seems like a wall that stops any of us from reaching our homes. I want to go back home so badly but the boys act so immature at times. They really need to be disciplined. Simon came along and made me feel better that we have a better chance of making it home. Although I don’t like Jack, he came up with the good idea of hunting that boar since we saw the droppings. I was so thrilled when we caught up to the boar and I threw my spear and it grazed the boar’s snout! After the boar got away, the boys and I reenacted the hunt. We got too carried away when Robert was nearly killed by all of our spears. When night time approached, Jack, Roger, and I decided to climb the mountain to search for the beast again. When I got up the mountain I saw a big shadow that looked like it was from a giant ape. As soon as we all saw that, we ran down the mountain to tell the group what had happened.

This morning I was very angry at Jack. He called for a meeting and called me a coward and that I shouldn’t be the chief anymore! I was so angry at him. After the boys voted on who should be the chief, they chose me and Jack ran off saying that he will create his own group and anyone is allowed to join. I didn’t know what to do at the time so I felt really down, but Piggy came up with a good idea which made me a lot happier! He had us build a new signal fire on the beach. When night time approached, some of the boys ran off to join Jack’s group. Piggy convinced me that we were better off without them. For the rest of the night, Piggy and I talked at the old camp.
